Two people are hospitalized following a serious road crash that occurred this morning at Karengyere in Muko Sub-county, Rubanda District, along the Kabale–Kisoro highway.

According to Kigezi Region Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime, the crash involved a Nissan Pickup, registration number UBK 746P, and a dark grey HOWO truck, registration numbers KDK 325W / ZD 9216.

“The two vehicles were coming from opposite directions when the Nissan Pickup lost control and collided with the truck,” Tumushime said.

Rubanda Traffic Police responded to the scene and two unidentified occupants sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to Kisoro Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Tumushime urged all road users to observe traffic regulations, respect road signs, and drive within the recommended speed limits. He also cautioned long-distance drivers against fatigue, advising them to take adequate rest before and during journeys.

“Investigations into the crash are ongoing,” he added.
