Reckless Driving Leaves Three Dead, Six Injured in Ntungamo Truck Crash
A Fuso truck carrying market vendors overturned in Ntungamo District after the driver reportedly lost control, killing three people and injuring six others, as police cite reckless driving as the likely cause of the crash.

Police in Ntungamo District are investigating a fatal road accident that claimed three lives following a crash on March 21, 2026, along Rwekiniro Road in Kayenje Town Council.

The accident involved a Fuso truck, registration number UAT 371G, which was traveling from Ntungamo heading toward Rwekiniro Sub-county in Ruhaama County, carrying market vendors and their goods.

The deceased have been identified as Mustafa Muhoozi, Hakim Mukiibi and Muzafari Kireema.

According to Samson Kasasira, the driver lost control of the vehicle upon reaching Kayenje Trading Centre, causing the truck to veer off the road and overturn.

“When they reached Kayenje Trading Centre, the driver lost control, went off the road and the truck overturned, hence killing three people and injuring six others,” Kasasira said.

He added that reckless driving has been identified as the likely cause of the accident.

“The cause of the accident was reckless driving,” he stated.

Kasasira further noted that the injured victims were rushed to various health facilities in Ntungamo District for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to Itojo Hospital mortuary pending postmortem examination.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
