The NRM Parliamentary Caucus will meet this Sunday to elect a new Executive Committee and fill two vacant East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) seats, according to a notice issued by the Office of the Government Chief Whip.
In a letter dated July 3, 2026, addressed to all NRM Members of Parliament, Government Chief Whip and Chairperson of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, invited members to a caucus meeting scheduled for Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Conference Hall at the Office of the President.
“This is to notify and invite you to a meeting of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus scheduled for Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Conference Hall, Office of the President,” Dr. Aceng wrote.
The meeting will focus on two key agenda items as the ruling party reorganises its parliamentary leadership ahead of legislative business.
“The purpose of the meeting is to conduct the following elections: (1) Election of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus Executive Committee; and (2) By-election for the two vacant NRM EALA positions,” the notice states.
Dr. Aceng also directed the NRM Electoral Commission to prepare for the elections and urged all members to attend in person.
“By copy of this letter, the Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission is requested to prepare accordingly. Please endeavour to attend in person,” she wrote.
The letter was copied to several senior NRM and government officials, including the President and National Chairperson of the NRM, the Vice President, the Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business, the NRM Secretary General, the Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, and the Director of the Office of the Leader of Government Business.
The election of the caucus Executive Committee will determine the leadership responsible for guiding NRM MPs on legislative strategy, party discipline, and coordination of government business in the 12th Parliament.
Meanwhile, the EALA by-election will fill two vacant seats allocated to the NRM at the regional legislative assembly.
