Opportunity Bank appoints Allen Semboze as new CEO

Opportunity Bank Uganda has appointed Allen Semboze as its new Chief Executive Officer, ushering in a new leadership chapter at the financial institution.

Announcing the appointment, the bank described Semboze as a seasoned financial services executive with more than two decades of experience in banking, digital financial services and microfinance.

"With over two decades of experience in banking, digital financial services, and microfinance, Allen brings a wealth of expertise, a passion for innovation, and a shared commitment to expanding opportunity for the communities we serve," the bank said in a statement.

The bank expressed confidence that Semboze's leadership would help advance its strategic objectives.

"As we embark on this exciting new chapter, we are confident that his leadership will strengthen our mission of empowering individuals, businesses, and communities through accessible and innovative financial solutions," the statement added.

Before joining Opportunity Bank Uganda, Semboze served as Chief Executive Officer of ASA Microfinance (Uganda) Limited from August 2024 to July 2026. He also serves as a board member of the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda, representing Central Bank-regulated Tier One, Tier Two and Tier Three financial institutions.

His career spans more than 20 years across banking, digital financial services and microfinance, where he has held senior leadership positions focused on financial inclusion, institutional growth and innovation.

Semboze also recently completed an International Executive Development Leadership programme at the Graduate School of Business, University of Cape Town. He holds a Master of Science degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Bradford.
