The National Information Technology Authority–Uganda (NITA-U) has hosted the new Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Justine Lumumba Kasule, and Minister of State for National Guidance, Godfrey Alion Odria, during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening coordination on Uganda’s digital transformation agenda.
The meeting, held at NITA-U offices in Kampala, was led by Executive Director Dr. Hatwib Mugasa, who briefed the ministers on the Authority’s mandate, ongoing programmes and strategic priorities in the country’s digital development.
“We were honoured to host the new Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Justine Lumumba and the State Minister for National Guidance Alioni Odria, at NITA-U this morning for a courtesy visit,” the Authority said.
Dr Mugasa introduced the Board and management team before taking the ministers through progress made in expanding Uganda’s digital infrastructure and improving technology-driven public service delivery.
According to NITA-U, the discussions focused on strengthening the national digital backbone and accelerating the rollout of digital public services across government institutions.
“Led by our NITA Uganda ED, Hatwib Mugasa, the engagement provided an opportunity to introduce the Board and Management, share NITA-U’s mandate, highlight key achievements, and discuss the strategic priorities that will drive Uganda’s digital transformation,” the Authority stated.
Officials emphasized the importance of inter-agency coordination in building a more integrated and efficient digital ecosystem to support service delivery and economic growth.
NITA-U reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance to implement government’s digital agenda.
“We look forward to working together to expand digital public infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and accelerate Uganda’s digital future,” the Authority said.
The visit forms part of a broader familiarisation tour by the Ministry of ICT, following similar engagements with the Uganda Communications Commission earlier in the week as government seeks to align key institutions under its digital economy strategy.
