Hoima District has commissioned a Shs98 million chain-link fence at Mparangasi Health Centre III, aimed at strengthening security at the facility and improving the safety of patients and health workers.
The commissioning exercise, held on Tuesday afternoon at the facility, was presided over by Rogers Mbabazi, the Resident District Commissioner, who reaffirmed government commitment to improving health service delivery across the district.
Mbabazi said Hoima District has registered significant investment in health infrastructure in recent years, including the upgrading of Kigorobya Health Centre IV with a modern theatre, the ongoing upgrade of Buseruka Health Centre III into a community hospital, and the equipping of several other health facilities.
He, however, raised concern over delays in securing land titles for government institutions, warning that failure to formalise ownership exposes public facilities to encroachment and disputes.
Fridah Kabagahya, the Hoima District Vice Chairperson, who represented the district chairperson, commended the leadership for prioritising the protection of health facilities and the welfare of health workers and patients.
She said the district remains committed to improving service delivery and expanding access to timely healthcare for the population.
Sarah Nakalungi, the Chief Administrative Officer, cautioned members of the public against vandalism of government installations, saying such actions undermine service delivery and waste public resources.
She also noted that Hoima District is expected to benefit from government programmes such as UgIFT in the health sector, which are aimed at strengthening infrastructure and service delivery at lower-level health facilities.
