He made the remarks while speaking during a two-day workshop on Ending Sexual and Gender-Based Violence held at Police Headquarters in Naguru, which brought together approximately 30 participants.
CP Kulayige urged participants to adopt thorough, professional, and victim-centred approaches when handling SGBV cases.
He also encouraged them to actively engage with facilitators during the workshop in order to strengthen their understanding and improve their capacity to respond effectively to such cases.
“The methods used during engagement and interviewing significantly influence both the victims’ recovery process and the quality of information obtained,” he said.
The workshop aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies in handling Sexual and Gender-Based Violence cases and supporting victims with sensitivity and professionalism.
