Speaking during the gathering, Sheikh Kasaliko expressed concern over Lukwago's condition and called on believers to seek divine intervention.

The cleric emphasised the importance of unity and compassion, saying both leaders and ordinary citizens deserve support when confronted by hardship.

“This is a time for people to come together regardless of their political differences. We pray that Allah grants Erias Lukwago healing, patience and a speedy recovery,” he added.

Family members and friends who attended the prayers said they remained hopeful that Lukwago's health would improve and that he would receive the medical attention he requires.

The prayers come amid increasing concern among supporters and well-wishers over the veteran politician's reported health challenges while on remand.

Lukwago remains detained at Luzira Prison. Chief Magistrate Sarah Basemera on Tuesday denied the former Lord Mayor bail, citing risk of interference with investigations, but ordered Prisons authorities to ensure specialised treatment at Mulago.

The gathering concluded with prayers for his recovery, peace for his family and wisdom for those handling his case.
