Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has selected media consultant Dr. Joel Isabirye to spearhead the establishment and operationalization of its planned radio station, a project aimed at strengthening public communication and civic engagement in the capital.

According to information from KCCA, Dr. Isabirye emerged as the best-evaluated bidder among nine media service providers who submitted proposals following the Authority's call for bids.

The proposed KCCA Radio is expected to serve as a dedicated public communication platform through which the Authority will disseminate information on its programmes, policies, projects, events, and service delivery initiatives.

Currently, KCCA relies on a mix of radio, television, print, and digital platforms to communicate with residents and stakeholders. The new station is expected to complement these channels by providing a centralized source of information focused on issues affecting Kampala and the Authority's operations.

Officials say the station will operate as a public service broadcaster, supporting ongoing efforts to improve governance, service delivery, urban management, and public awareness across the city.

The project comes at a time when KCCA is implementing a range of initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, sanitation, traffic management, and urban planning.

Dr. Isabirye is a seasoned media consultant with extensive experience in Uganda's broadcasting industry. Over the years, he has been involved in the development and management of several radio and television stations across the country.
