The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) in Nairobi has confirmed that a person died after falling from one of its buildings, prompting investigations by relevant authorities.

In a statement issued on Thursday, June 18, the hospital expressed sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the family of the deceased.

“An individual fell from one of our buildings and sadly passed on,” the hospital said.

“We are deeply saddened by this incident and extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones,” it added.

The hospital said it is cooperating with relevant authorities as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fall continue.

“The hospital is cooperating with the relevant authorities as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the matter,” the statement noted.

Management also appealed for privacy and sensitivity as investigations proceed.

“We kindly request that the privacy and dignity of the family, our patients, and staff be respected,” the hospital said.

The identity of the deceased and the exact circumstances leading to the fall had not been disclosed by Thursday evening.

Aga Khan University Hospital is one of East Africa’s leading referral and teaching hospitals, offering specialised medical services and training healthcare professionals. It serves patients from Kenya and across the region, including Uganda.

Authorities have not yet released further details as investigations continue.
