Salam Charity Smart Community Program Transforms Livelihoods in Rwampara

Salam Charity’s Smart Community Program is underway in Rwampara District, training locals and providing financial aid to boost key sectors, including brick laying, goat fattening, beekeeping, and small businesses.

The program targets small-scale activities, helping residents transition to modern, large-scale operations for higher incomes and greater self-sufficiency. Beneficiaries from Buhihi, Nyeihanga, Bujaga, and Rwenshama are already reporting improved living standards

Brick Laying: Long practiced on a small scale, brick making is being upgraded through financial aid and technical sensitization to increase production and incomes. Goat Rearing: Local farmers are being trained in modern goat fattening techniques to improve yields and profitability beyond traditional subsistence rearing. Beekeeping: The program is expanding small-scale beekeeping into large-scale ventures through training and financial support. Small Businesses: Local entrepreneurs, including Mr. Abaho Rashid, who runs a basic meat roasting business, is receiving guidance to scale up operations and improve community impact.

Women leaders in Rwampara have engaged the program team on strategies to enhance living standards through self-sustainability training. The Salam Charity team is also reviewing the brick-laying project to track participants’ progress in income growth and self-reliance following the intervention.

According to Country Director Abdussaalaam Ali Kinobe, the Smart Community Program is built on teamwork and solidarity to ensure inclusive growth. “We aim at uplifting the entire community without leaving anyone behind,” he said.

Residents of Buhihi, Nyeihanga, Bujaga, and Rwenshama have already benefited, with notable improvements in living standards reported.

Rwampara District is serving as a case study for the initiative. Salam Charity confirmed plans to roll out the Smart Community Program nationwide, aiming to train all Ugandans to achieve socio-economic development and self-sustainability.
