Dr Rouhallah Dehghani, Principal of Al Mustafa Islamic College, today, June 3, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to Next Media Park, where he held discussions on advancing Islamic education and strengthening Muslim community initiatives in Uganda.
He was received by Uncle Mark, Head of Protocol at Next Media, and Hajji Karim Kaliisa, Managing Director of Salam TV and Salam Charity.
Uncle Mark later led Dr Dehghani on a tour of the facility, which he described as a model of professionalism and modern broadcast infrastructure.
During the engagement, Dr Dehghani shared his vision for strengthening Islamic education and expanding opportunities for Muslim communities in Uganda.
He expressed interest in building a collaboration between Al Mustafa Islamic College and Salam TV, alongside Next Media, to enhance access to education and daawa programmes.
A key moment during the visit was the presentation of a congratulatory message and gifts from H.E. Majid Saffar, Iran’s Ambassador to Uganda, to Hajji Karim Kaliisa.
The gesture was in recognition of Kaliisa’s recent award of the Diamond Jubilee Medal, conferred by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during the 2026 International Labour Day celebrations at Nkoyoyo Boarding Primary School grounds in Buikwe District.
The meeting was also attended by Ssimuka Muhammad, an educationist and Muslim leader from Kabasheshe, Ntungamo, who welcomed the discussions and proposed an expanded partnership between Al Mustafa Islamic College and Salam Charity to support Islamic education initiatives in Kabasheshe and surrounding areas.
In his remarks, Dr Dehghani praised Salam TV’s role in promoting unity among Muslims and advancing daawa programmes.
“I knew Salam TV through Dr. Kaliisa, whom we learned a lot from. We need to always appreciate those elders. They set a good pace that we are following, and we never know what they went through,” he said.
He added that the late Dr Anas Abdunoor Kaliisa played a key role in promoting unity among Muslims without segregation, commending Salam TV and Salam Charity for “dissemination of daawa and saving humanity.”
Hajji Karim Kaliisa welcomed the delegation and thanked Dr. Dehghani for the visit and recognition. He reaffirmed Salam TV’s commitment to education as a key pillar of its work.
“Salam has a strong pillar of education which can match with the university, and enables support to our Muslim community, most especially Muslim local leaders who may need to be uplifted in education,” Kaliisa said.
Both parties expressed willingness to explore formal cooperation frameworks focusing on Islamic education, media training, and community outreach programmes.
