MTN Wraps Up Three-Day Y’ello Storm Activation in Arua

MTN Uganda has concluded a three-day Y’ello Storm activation in Arua under its ongoing Free Your Fire campaign, combining customer engagement, community outreach, network expansion, and entertainment activities across the West Nile region.

The activation, which ran from May 13 to May 15, brought together customers, local leaders, business owners, youth, media personalities, and community groups in activities aimed at strengthening MTN’s relationship with customers while showcasing its products and services.

During the activation, MTN teams carried out network expansion and modernization works in areas including Abira Cell, Alivu, Ajupara, Aliko, and Riki.

According to the telecom company, the upgraded and newly launched sites were constructed between the fourth quarter of 2025 and 2026 to improve voice quality, data connectivity, and overall customer experience in the region.

Speaking during the engagement, MTN Uganda Regional Commercial Head for Northern Uganda, Phillip Odoi thanked customers in West Nile for their continued support.

“The people of West Nile have consistently supported MTN Uganda over the years and this activation is our way of engaging more closely with the communities we serve while continuing to improve the experience on our network,” Odoi said.

He added that MTN remains focused on strengthening connectivity and expanding services closer to customers.

“We continue investing in our network infrastructure to improve coverage, voice quality, and data experience for our customers. As communities continue to grow and businesses expand, we want to ensure that our customers have reliable and affordable connectivity that supports their daily lives and ambitions,” he added.

As part of the outreach activities, MTN Uganda visited Arua Regional Referral Hospital where staff conducted a clean-up exercise and donated cleaning equipment and care packages to the facility.

The company also extended support to mothers in the children’s ward through contributions facilitated via MTN MoMo.

Odoi said the hospital visit reflected MTN’s broader commitment to communities beyond telecommunications services.

“We were honored to spend time at Arua Regional Referral Hospital because healthcare institutions play a critical role within the community. Through this visit, we wanted to show appreciation and contribute in a small way to the wellbeing of the patients, mothers, and healthcare workers serving the people of West Nile,” he said.

The final day of the activation featured a Y’ello drive through Arua City, a customer appreciation luncheon, a blood donation campaign at OPM grounds, and community games involving boda boda riders, taxi drivers, market vendors, former footballers, media personalities, and MTN staff.

The luncheon attracted local government leaders, security representatives, business leaders, enterprise customers, merchants, school representatives, SIM selling outlets, and long-serving MTN customers.

MTN said the engagement provided an opportunity to appreciate customer loyalty and gather feedback from stakeholders.

Throughout the activation, customers interacted with a range of MTN products and services including voice and data bundles, MTN Caller Tunez, YoTV subscriptions, MyMTN App downloads, MTN MoMo services, bill payments, SIM registration, smartphones, routers, and MiFi devices.

The celebrations also featured football matches, cooking competitions, tug-of-war contests, spin-and-win experiences, and performances from local and national artistes alongside DJs and MCs.

MTN Uganda said the Y’ello Storm activation will continue in selected locations across the country in the coming months as part of its wider Free Your Fire campaign aimed at bringing the MTN experience closer to communities across Uganda.
