VIDEO: Two more admitted with Cholera symptoms at Naguru Hospital

Naguru hospital has admitted two more people suspected to have been infected with Cholera following confirmation from the Ministry of Health of a cholera outbreak in Kabowa, Rubaga division.

Speaking to the Nile Post at the Naguru hospital, the Executive Director Dr Batiibwe Emmanuel revealed that while investigations are still on going the two presented with a cute watery Diarrhea, a major symptom for the extremely virulent disease.

While there have been reports that two Cholera patients escaped from the China Friendship Naguru Cholera Isolation Centre, more people continue to make their way to the facility with symptoms of the disease.

Batiibwe also denied that any patients had escaped from the hospital. He revealed that two people had been brought in displaying symptoms of the disease and are being managed in the isolation center.

Dr Batiibwe adds that the medical personnel are yet to identify the exact strain of cholera haunting residents of Kabowa. He says it will take at least 72 hours to get results. In the meantime, the patients are being treated for Cholera.

The two new cases brings to 7 the number suffering from Cholera in Kampala in 2019. In total 16 cases have been reported though some have since been discharged.

Cholera is an acute diarrheal infection caused by taking in contaminated food or water.
