Various heads of state have arrived in the country ahead of President .Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony later today.
Leading the pack was South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit who arrived on Sunday before other Presidents, includingBrahim Ghali of the of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Taye Atske Selassie(Ethiopia), Somalia's Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo from neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Togolese President, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe jeted into the country later in the evening on Monday.
Other leaders already in Uganda for the ceremony include Zimbabwe’s Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga, and Equatorial Guinea’s Prime Minister, Manuel Osa Nsue Nsua.
At Entebbe International Airport, the leaders were received by various Ugandan government officials, including ministers and senior security officers.
The organising committee of the swearing-in ceremony recently announced that at least 35 Heads of State will attend the ceremony scheduled later today at Kololo Independence grounds in Kampala.
While some heads of state have come in person, others have sent representatives.
