This was revealed by Keto Kayemba, CPA Public Accountants Examination Board (PAEB) Chairperson, while releasing the examination results at Kampala Imperial Royale Hotel on Thursday.
“We are here this morning to release the results for the December 2018 examination diet, which were administered between 26 and 30 November 2018, at all our examination centres in Arua, Fort Portal, Gulu, Kampala, Mbale, Mbarara and Nkozi.
This time round, 6,202 candidates attempted the examination compared to 6,139 candidates who sat for the June, 2018 examinations”, she said.
For Accounting Technicians’ Diploma examinations, Kayemba said: “A total of 247 candidates sat for the December 2018 examinations compared to 271 who sat in June 2018. The average pass rate was 49.4 per cent compared to 44.4 per cent in June 2018”.
Asked to explain the factors that led to female candidates registering an excellent performance, compared to their male candidates, Frederick Kibedi, CPA President said; this is attributed to the fact that females are multitasks in all fields and are hard working.
He said Female are resilient and ready to undertake any task, even at household level. Regarding, the rating of CPA qualifications at International level, Kibedi said: “We follow international standards.
It’s like how police personnel are rated and awarded ranks”. He said CPA works with local Universities to encourage young people undertake the profession.
He added that; in terms of age, 69 per cent of those who passed were in the age bracket of 18-24 years, followed by 25-29 at 21 per cent. “These are dynamic young people with a lot of energy to serve the Nation in different capacities”, he added.
