IGG Arrests Jinja Lands Ministry Surveyor Over Bribery Allegations
The Inspectorate of Government has arrested a staff surveyor at the Ministry of Lands zonal office in Jinja over alleged bribery, following a spot check operation that led to the recovery of marked cash.

The Inspector General of Government (IGG) has arrested a staff surveyor at the Ministry of Lands zonal office in Jinja over allegations of bribery.

The suspect, identified as Donald Francis Wagoli, was apprehended during a surprise spot check conducted by the IGG and her team at the office.

According to preliminary information, a search of Wagoli’s bag reportedly uncovered cash he could not account for at the time of the operation.

Sources further indicated that part of the money, amounting to Shs300,000, had earlier been provided by an IGG informer as part of an ongoing anti-corruption operation.

A graduate trainee, Jovan Woniala, was also arrested after he was found in possession of the bag containing the money.

Both suspects were taken into custody and are being held at Jinja Central Police Station as investigations continue.

The Inspectorate of Government has not yet issued an official statement on the arrests, but sources said the operation is part of ongoing efforts to crack down on alleged corruption within land administration offices.

Further details are expected as inquiries progress.
