Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has called on Ugandans to rally behind national development programmes and maintain peace following President Museveni’s victory in the January 15, 2026 presidential election, saying the outcome reflects public confidence in the National Resistance Movement’s governance record.
“I congratulate H.E. Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, on his resounding and well-deserved victory in the presidential election held on 15 January 2026,” Nabbanja said in a statement.
She also acknowledged the role of other political actors in the electoral process, saying, “I also congratulate all Presidential and Parliamentary Candidates who participated in the just-concluded elections.”
Nabbanja said Museveni’s repeated electoral success is rooted in government performance, noting that Museveni has consistently won presidential elections because the achievements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Government speak for themselves.”
Thanking voters, the Prime Minister said, “I thank the people of Uganda for once again voting overwhelmingly for Museveni, and also commend them for exercising their constitutional right to choose their leaders.”
She highlighted the NRM’s strengthened position in Parliament, stating, “I congratulate the NRM for retaining a parliamentary majority and regaining seats from the Opposition.”
With the elections concluded at national level, Nabbanja said the government would prioritise socio-economic transformation.
“Under the leadership of H.E. President Museveni, the NRM Government will continue to invest in wealth-creation programmes such as the Parish Development Model to drive socio-economic transformation,” she said.
She urged citizens to engage with government initiatives.
I urge Ugandans to actively participate in all programmes designed to propel our country towards a modern and prosperous society, as outlined in the National Development Plan IV and Vision 2040.”
As local government elections continue, Nabbanja appealed for calm and unity, saying, “I appeal to all candidates, supporters, and citizens to maintain peace and participate peacefully in the remaining local government elections.”
