Faras Uganda, a leading ride-hailing service, has reaffirmed its commitment to road safety by launching a new range of high-quality reflective jackets and rearguards for its network of boda boda riders.
The initiative was unveiled during the company’s vibrant end-of-year party themed “Safety and Smartness in the Festive Season.”
The launch comes as Uganda prepares for the busy festive period, a time when road traffic increases and accident risks rise.
By equipping riders with enhanced visibility gear, Faras Uganda aims to reduce accidents and foster a safer commuting environment.
Speaking at the event, General Manager Hamad Mudhafar Kasaija praised his team for their dedication, crediting their efforts with the company’s growth and reliability.
“Every decision we make is centred around our riders. By giving them the best equipment, we are protecting their incomes, their families, and their future on the road,” he said.
“At Faras, professionalism begins with safety. When our riders look smart and ride safely, our entire service improves. That is why we continue to invest in high-quality safety gear,” Kasaija added, emphasizing that visibility saves lives whether riding by day or night.
The initiative drew praise from stakeholders in the road safety and transport sectors. Emmanuel Okiria from the Legacy Road Safety Initiative described Faras Uganda as a “model transport company that is setting the pace for safer mobility solutions.”
Abdul Razak, driver relations manager at Faras Uganda, urged riders to educate their peers on safety and vigilance during the festive season.
“There are many thieves and robbers, and accidents are frequent during this period, especially with people drinking. Be careful. Take care of your bikes, phones, and lives,” he said.
“Supporting our riders every day ensures they can work confidently and safely. When a rider feels supported, the entire community benefits,” Abdul added.
Other stakeholders applauded Faras Uganda’s efforts. Duncan Zimba from Tugende praised the company’s rapid growth, while Marketing Manager Katende Karim highlighted the importance of partnerships that advance the boda boda business responsibly.
OC Traffic Wandegeya Police Station, Adonia Manyire, also commended the initiative, noting that high-quality reflectors help reduce crashes and prevent riders from being involved in traffic collisions.
Continuing its tradition of recognising exemplary service, Faras Uganda awarded a brand-new motorcycle to the best rider for the third consecutive year.
Karim Nsereko received the award for his discipline, hard work, and outstanding customer service.
Through these measures, Faras Uganda seeks to ensure a safer festive season for riders and passengers alike, while fostering a culture of vigilance, professionalism, and responsibility across the boda boda community.
