The Mityana District Chairperson, Patrick Mugisha Nshimye, has officially launched his campaigns for the Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament seat, asking voters to entrust him with their mandate in the 12th Parliament.
Mugisha, who is challenging incumbent MP Francis Zaake Butebi, said he is entering the race to address what he described as long-standing gaps in service delivery in the municipality.
He noted that despite its strategic importance, Mityana Municipality has lagged behind in infrastructure development, social services, and community empowerment programmes.
Mugisha says residents deserve better representation one that prioritises development, unity, and accountability.“Mityana Municipality has not received the quality of service it deserves,” Mugisha said.
“We cannot keep moving backwards while other areas progress. I am coming into this race because our people need a leader who will champion development and work closely with government to bring tangible change.”Mugisha noted.
He accused the current leadership of failing to effectively engage with government programmes and development initiatives, leaving the municipality behind in key sectors such as roads, education, and youth empowerment.
“For years, government projects have bypassed the municipality simply because our representation has not been proactive,” he added. “Residents have repeatedly complained about poor service delivery this is what has pushed me to step forward.”
Mugisha emphasised that his campaign will centre on improved service delivery, effective mobilisation of government resources, and strengthening partnerships that benefit the people of Mityana.
As the 2026 general elections approach, the Mityana Municipality race is expected to be one of the most closely watched contests in the district, with both Mugisha and Zaake enjoying substantial followings.
Mugisha concluded by calling on voters to give him their trust, promising transparent leadership and meaningful engagement with community needs.
As the race tightens, voters in Mityana Municipality are closely watching how each of the nine candidates presents solutions to the persistent social and economic challenges facing the area.
