The Inspector General of Police, Abbas Byakagaba, is scheduled to hold a media briefing this morning at the Police Headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, to provide updates on the general security situation during the ongoing elections.
During the briefing, Byakagaba is expected to outline the deployment of security personnel across the country, detail incidents reported so far, and explain the preparedness measures put in place to ensure a peaceful electoral process.
He will also address public concerns, as well as those raised by candidates and election observers, regarding the conduct of security personnel during polling.
Police have maintained heightened presence nationwide, focusing particularly on known hotspots and areas that have historically experienced electoral-related disturbances, to safeguard voters and uphold law and order.
The briefing comes as Ugandans continue casting their votes, with security agencies on high alert to prevent any disruptions that could affect the credibility and safety of the elections.
