Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate Maj Gen (Rtd) Mugisha Muntu has unveiled plans to revitalize Uganda’s agricultural extension services, rebuild cooperatives, and empower smallholder farmers as part of his 2026 development agenda.

Speaking at campaign rallies in Serere and Soroti, Muntu emphasized the challenges faced by farmers, including exploitation by middlemen and the collapse of cooperative systems that once protected their interests.

He promised to strengthen extension services nationwide, provide affordable credit, and ensure access to quality inputs.

Muntu also pledged investments in education, health, and rural infrastructure, including roads, to improve market access for farm produce.

Addressing unemployment and underemployment, he vowed to restore integrity to public institutions and create fair economic opportunities for all Ugandans.

Highlighting national unity and equitable development, Muntu said his vision is “an Uganda where every citizen can live in peace and achieve prosperity, not just a select few.”
