Independent Member of Parliament aspirant Florence Kintu has outlined her key development priorities and policy positions for Nansana Municipality should she be elected.
Speaking during the Nansana Municipality Parliamentary Debate hosted by NBS Television on Sunday, Kintu drew on her experience as a former legislator in the 9th Parliament and emphasized her early involvement in the foundational stages of establishing Nansana Municipality.
“I served on the committee that initiated the establishment of Nansana Municipality. I am glad to be here discussing its progress and the way forward for our people,” she said.
Kintu raised serious concerns about land grabbing, describing it as an escalating challenge in the area. She called on authorities to take firm action to protect landowners and ensure fair and lawful land management.
She also pointed to the problem of limited access to clean water, arguing that residents in such a rapidly growing municipality should not still be relying on boreholes.
“Nansana harbours a large population of people who work in the Kampala Metropolitan region. It is not right that they are still relying on boreholes for water, yet they contribute significantly to the economy,” she said.
On governance, Kintu criticized the performance of the 11th Parliament, noting that certain “syndicates” had influenced decisions in ways that negatively affected ordinary citizens.
“There were several issues concerning the people that Parliament passed against their will,” she said, stressing the need for transparent, accountable leadership.
Kintu’s participation in the debate reinforced her campaign focus on good governance, infrastructure development, and the protection of citizens’ rights as key pillars of her agenda for Nansana Municipality.
She is set to face off with Zambaali Bulasio Mukasa (NUP), Harold Kaija (PFF), Musoke Hamis Walusimbi (FDC), Ida Buggaga Matovu (NRM), Henry Lubowa (DF), and independent candidates Mutebi Ramathan and Kayaga Juliet—all aiming to unseat outgoing MP Nsereko Musoke Wakayima, who has represented the constituency since 2016.
With only months remaining to the 2026 elections, the Nansana Municipality parliamentary race is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched contests in the country.
