Mubende Municipality MP Hajji Badhir Lubega Ssempa, alongside several former NRM aspirants who defied party primaries, has launched a campaign team dubbed “Infantry 2026” as he seeks a second term in office.

The launch, held at Ssempa’s residence in Katawa Cell, drew participants including Topista Tindimwebwa, who lost in the NRM Woman MP primaries, and Vincent Gahanga Tumusiime, also known as Kissanja, who failed to secure the NRM District Chairperson nomination.

Addressing supporters, MP Ssempa described the group as a disciplined “infantry” set to drive his campaign to victory in the 2026 elections.
“You are the infantry that will foster these campaigns. Many think men in suits are the kingmakers in politics, but you are the ones who will decide who leads you,” he said.

Ssempa also warned local leaders allegedly planning to rig votes, stating, “We have the likes of Kabanda, Ntambi, and others who think they can sabotage our peaceful elections, but my team and I are steps ahead, monitoring every move.”

During the launch, Ssempa showcased video evidence highlighting his achievements and constituency work, countering criticism from detractors who claimed he had done little.
“People blamed me for not representing them, but this strategy clears every lie,” he said, emphasizing that voters should prioritize ability and manifesto over party affiliation.

Topista Tindimwebwa explained her decision to run as an independent, alleging massive rigging in the NRM primaries for the Woman MP seat. She urged voters to support candidates who respect the will of the people.
“None of you here is unaware that I won the Woman MP seat in the primaries, but the tally sheets showed otherwise. This time, the Electoral Commission will ensure votes are protected,” she said.

Vincent Gahanga Tumusiime (Kissanja) echoed the commitment to fair elections, saying the new campaign team will safeguard every vote.
“This time we have a superior team. No one will play with people’s votes. It is time for change,” he said.
