Kasese District has unveiled a new team of youth mobilisers under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) “Changed Youths” initiative, aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots presence ahead of the upcoming general elections.
The commissioning took place in Kasese town, drawing youth leaders, NRM mobilizers, and local government officials.
Misach Kawamala, senior presidential advisor on mobilization for Rwenzori and Tooro sub-regions, urged the youths to engage communities with respect and constructive dialogue, said the party’s strength lies in peaceful communication and demonstrating government achievements.
“We must use proper language while mobilizing,” Kawamala said. “Our role is to persuade, not to provoke. The NRM believes in peaceful engagement and showcasing what has been achieved under this government.”
He encouraged the mobilizers to intensify outreach at village and parish levels, highlighting that active youth participation is vital for the party’s future.
Kasese District LC5 Chairperson, Eriphaz Muhindi, welcomed the initiative, noting that youth involvement could shift political dynamics in a region historically supportive of opposition parties.
“Youth involvement in mobilization shows a growing appreciation for what the government is doing. It signals a change in the political atmosphere,” Muhindi said.
Moses Bwambale, regional coordinator for the Changed Youths, reiterated the group’s commitment to ensuring an NRM victory.
“We are ready to work and ready to move. We shall reach the villages, engage our peers, and ensure the NRM wins with a clear margin,” he stated.
As the election countdown continues, analysts say youth-led mobilization could play a decisive role in shaping political momentum in Kasese and the broader Rwenzori region, where party loyalty remains fluid.
