“Every 6th day of the month, all 21 sub-counties in Ssingo participate in tree planting and general cleaning activities,” she said. “This will not only beautify our surroundings but also safeguard our health and livelihoods.”

She warned against unnecessary tree cutting, noting its link to flooding, soil erosion, and reduced agricultural productivity, and urged residents to plant fruit trees to benefit both homes and communities.

The campaign was officially launched in Ssabagabo Ssekanyonyi Sub-County, where hundreds of mango, avocado, jackfruit, and guava trees were planted.

Barnabas Ssenabulya, the Kabaka’s representative in Ssabagabo Ssekanyonyi, said the fruit trees will provide both environmental protection and nutritional and economic benefits.

“These fruit trees will strengthen the health of our people. If properly maintained, they will provide food and income for years,” Ssenabulya said, wearing a sash bearing the Kabaka’s emblem.

Leaders across Ssingo County are also promoting tree planting at household level. In Muwanga Sub-County, members of the CBS Powesa community group cleared bushes, cleaned roadsides, and collected waste from public areas.

“We are proud to follow Kabaka’s call to keep our environment clean. When we clean our surroundings, we protect our children and future generations,” said one participant.

Residents extended gratitude to Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II for his continued support of environmental conservation and public hygiene through his cultural structures.

The Ssingo County Bulungi Bwansi initiative plans to expand to schools and markets, ensuring that all residents contribute to a cleaner, greener, and healthier Buganda.
