The high-level roundtable media engagement platform Spotlight UG is back, providing a national stage for government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to showcase their achievements, priorities, and milestones.
This year’s inaugural dialogue will be held under the theme “Advancing Trade and Industrial Growth for Uganda’s Transformation,” focusing on the country’s progress toward achieving upper middle-income status over the next decade and a half.
According to organisers, Uganda’s projected tenfold economic growth will be anchored on agro-industrialisation, tourism, mineral beneficiation, and science, technology and innovation.
The upcoming National Development Plan IV (NDP IV) will guide this trajectory through a shift from sector-based to programme-based planning, promoting better coordination across government.
Speaking ahead of the event, Ben Mwine, Next Media’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Partnerships, said Spotlight UG plays a critical role in promoting dialogue and storytelling around national development.
“Spotlight UG stands at the centre of information dissemination, storytelling, and interactive dialogue,” Mwine said.
He noted that the previous edition attracted participation from over 40 MDAs and achieved a digital reach of more than 9 million people locally and globally through interactive broadcast and online engagement.
The forthcoming edition will feature key institutions along the industrialisation value chain, including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives, the Uganda Development Corporation, the Uganda Development Forum, and the Uganda Manufacturers Association.
The dialogue will be televised live on Next Media platforms, including NBS Television for English audiences and Sanyuka TV for Luganda viewers.
Coverage will also extend to UBC, BBS Terefayina, and Vision Group’s Bukedde TV, ensuring nationwide broadcast and accessibility.
Organisers say Spotlight UG aims to promote transparency, accountability, and informed citizen engagement by placing government performance under public scrutiny in an interactive, media-driven format.
