A wave of youthful energy has swept through Soroti City as hundreds of young people under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) vowed to intensify mobilisation for President Yoweri Museveni and all NRM flag bearers ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Speaking to journalist the NRM youth mobilisation led by the youth flag bearer Kyiria Ashraf . the youth reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the core values of the ruling party, pledging to deliver massive support for the President and his candidates.

“We want to reaffirm our commitment to the principles of the NRM government. We will, at all costs, mobilise for His Excellency the President and all flag bearers of Soroti City all this for God and my country,” one of the youth leaders declared.

The youth are also planning a unique event a birthday celebration for President Museveni scheduled for November 15th, which organizers say will double as a vote mobilisation drive across the Teso sub-region.

“This is not about money or politics of handouts,” said Sadat Abdalla, chairperson of the organising committee. “We are celebrating the President’s birthday out of love and commitment to his leadership. For the first time, this celebration is fully organised by the youth themselves, not the State House.”

Soroti Juakali Youth Turn to NRM
In a surprising turn, leaders from the Juakali sector historically known for leaning towards the opposition declared allegiance to the NRM, citing a renewed sense of direction and leadership.

“Juakali didn’t have a leader before. I’m here to lead and represent them,” said one of the mobilizers. “By 2026, Juakali will be NRM. There will be no opposition here.”

However, while expressing loyalty to the ruling party, several speakers voiced frustration over unfulfilled presidential pledges in the region. They accused local leaders of misleading the President about the real situation on the ground.

“We the youth and women in Soroti have never benefited from the NRM government,” one female mobiliser lamented. “We always see the President funding other regions, but Teso has been neglected. We are mobilising votes with nothing in our pockets, only faith and love for the President.”

She appealed directly to the President to meet with grassroots mobilisers during his upcoming visit to Soroti, saying, “We are the foot soldiers who know what is happening on the ground. The President got only 39% in Soroti City last time, but with his support and fulfilled pledges, we can deliver 90% in 2026.”

The youth called for urgent attention to the President’s previous promises to the Juakali sector and other groups in the Teso sub-region, urging the government to strengthen its economic empowerment programs in Soroti City.

“Let President Museveni fulfill the pledges he made to Soroti and the entire Teso sub-region. The people are ready to rally behind him if they can see the fruits of his commitments,” the youth added.

As the NRM gears up for the 2026 polls, Soroti City’s youth movement is positioning itself as a critical force for mobilisation — blending celebration, loyalty, and a strong message of accountability.
