Ghetto youth in Namutumba have expressed gratitude to President Museveni after Shs100 million promised to them was deposited into their accounts, pledging support for the 2026 general elections.

NAMUTUMBA – Ghetto youth in Namutumba have thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for fulfilling his pledge of Shs100 million to support their livelihoods.

The announcement was made by Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Hajj Kirunda Faruk during a visit to Namutumba district on Tuesday, where he met the youths and their leaders to confirm that the funds had been successfully credited to their accounts.

The confirmation brought joy to the youths, many of whom pledged to support President Museveni in the upcoming 2026 general elections, vowing to help him secure 100% votes in their locality despite acknowledging that his performance in 2021 was less than ideal.

Hajj Kirunda advised the youths to attend sensitization sessions to better understand how to use the funds, noting that some recipients were unfamiliar with the system.

He urged them to invest the money in viable businesses that can generate profits, pointing out that the funds carry an annual interest of at least 6%.

Speaking at the meeting, Regional Police Commander (RPC) for Busoga East, SSP Ssenyonjo Abas, appealed to the youths to avoid criminal activities and fully embrace reformation.

He encouraged them to make good use of the funds to attract additional support in the future.

The ghetto youths thanked the President for the financial support and pledged to back him and the National Resistance Movement flag bearers in next year’s elections, promising to rally peers in their communities to do the same.
