Police Urges Presidential Candidates to Reconcile on Campaign Routes
Police spokesperson, Kituuma Rusoke
Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke explained that the President’s movements cannot be limited like those of other presidential contenders because he holds the highest office in the land.

The Uganda Police Force has stopped politicians from criticising President  Museveni for moving freely around the country without any restrictions, saying he is the head of state and therefore entitled to travel with his convoy and security detail.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke explained that the President’s movements cannot be limited like those of other presidential contenders because he holds the highest office in the land.

This comes after several opposition candidates expressed dissatisfaction, accusing police of blocking or disrupting their campaign activities, while the incumbent moves without interference.

Kituuma, however, advised political party leaders and the Electoral Commission to re-engage with security agencies to agree on clear campaign routes to avoid future clashes.

In the same development, police have also dismissed reports that several Kenyan nationals were arrested for allegedly entering Uganda to participate in election-related activities, saying no such arrests have been confirmed.
