ULS Decries State Agencies’ Growing Disrespect for Rule of Law
The moment the public loses trust in this process, we shall all be affected

The Uganda Law Society (ULS) has raised concern over what it describes as the escalating disregard for the rule of law by state agencies, particularly security organs.

Speaking at the official opening of the 16th Annual Rule of Law Week in Kampala on September 15, ULS Vice President Anthony Asiimwe warned that the persistent disobedience of court orders, if unchecked, risks plunging the country into chaos reminiscent of Uganda’s dark past.

“The moment the public loses trust in this process, we shall all be affected,” Mr. Asiimwe stressed, underscoring the need for an independent judiciary.

He urged state institutions, security agencies, and government officials to uphold the rule of law by respecting court directives, and further called on the judiciary to take firm action against those who defy its orders.
