Mufti Mubaje Urges Muslim Men to Fulfill Marital Responsibilities
Neglecting these responsibilities will definitely cause a marriage break-up

The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has called on Muslim men to take up their God-ordained responsibilities in marriage to ensure stability and harmony in families.

Speaking at the wedding of businessman Simuka Muhamed and his bride Natuyamba Rajah at the National Mosque in Old Kampala over the weekend, the Mufti reminded husbands that Almighty Allah placed upon them the duty to provide shelter, clothing, and food for their families.

“Neglecting these responsibilities will definitely cause a marriage break-up,” he said, cautioning men against shifting their duties to their wives, even when the women are wealthy or employed.

He warned that such practices disrupt the divine order of marriage and contribute to domestic violence, child neglect, and other social problems.

Turning to the newlyweds, Mufti Mubaje urged them to embrace compassion, understanding, and cooperation as they embark on their marital journey.

“Let each of you do your expected part in the marriage journey you have commenced today,” he advised.

During the ceremony, Ms. Rajah, a new revert to Islam, publicly affirmed her faith by reciting the Shahada before family and congregants, who responded with chants of “Allahu Akbar.”

In line with Islamic tradition, the groom presented his bride with a new Mercedes-Benz and $5,000 as mahr, symbolising his commitment.
