The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) has arrested several government officers following sanctions by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The arrests stem from investigations into the 2023 Auditor General’s report on the Government Payroll.
According to sources, the operation is still underway, with more arrests expected as some suspects remain at large.
Institutions affected by the ongoing crackdown include the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital, Uganda Police Force, Kyambogo University, and the Ministry of Works.
Authorities say the arrests are part of efforts to hold public officials accountable and address financial irregularities highlighted in the Auditor General’s findings.
More details will be provided as the story develops.
