The Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Ruth Nankabirwa Sentamu, is scheduled to launch the 6.6-megawatt Nyagak 3 Hydropower Plant today in Zombo District.
The facility, located in the West Nile sub-region, is expected to enhance electricity supply to Zombo, Nebbi, Arua, Madi Okollo, and surrounding districts by supplementing power from the national grid.
According to ministry officials, the Nyagak 3 plant will also serve as a critical backup source in the event of disruptions or blackouts on the national grid, thereby improving the region's energy reliability.
The commissioning of the plant marks a significant milestone in Uganda’s effort to expand its renewable energy infrastructure and ensure stable power distribution to underserved regions.
