The Uganda Police Force has dismissed as false a viral social media post claiming that all newly recruited police constables must report to Kabalye Police Training School in Masindi.
The force has urged the public to disregard such misinformation and rely solely on official communication.
Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke warned that the misleading directive—widely shared online—risked derailing the recruitment and training process, especially for young recruits from remote regions.
“There has been misleading information circulating on social media saying that all police constables should report to Kabali Police Station,” Rusoke clarified.
“This is simply not true.”
He explained that the police operate three official training centres: Kabalye in Masindi, Olilim in Katakwi, and Ikaffe in Yumbe.
“Don’t mislead these young men,” he said. “Some of them come from far-flung areas where information hardly reaches them, so spreading false directives is only going to confuse and frustrate them.”
Rusoke urged recruits and their families to depend on verified information issued by the Uganda Police Force, cautioning that disciplinary action could be taken against those found deliberately spreading falsehoods.
“Trust only verified information from the Uganda Police Force,” he emphasized.
The statement comes amid growing concern over the influence of social media hoaxes on public institutions and national security, with authorities warning that such disinformation undermines public trust and operational efficiency.
