NUP Starts Vetting Kampala Aspirants Ahead of 2026
According to a statement from the party’s secretariat, the vetting exercise will begin on Monday (today), July 28, and continue through Friday, August 1, 2025.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has released its official weekly vetting schedule for aspirants seeking the party’s endorsement in various Kampala electoral areas ahead of the 2026 general elections.

According to a statement from the party’s secretariat, the vetting exercise will begin on Monday (today), July 28, and continue through Friday, August 1, 2025.

All sessions will commence at 8:00 a.m. and will be conducted at the NUP headquarters in Makerere-Kavule, along Bombo Road.

The schedule outlines specific constituencies to be vetted on each day.

On Monday, the process will cover aspirants from Lubaga North, Nakawa West, and Kawempe South. The following day, Tuesday, vetting will proceed with candidates from Lubaga South, a second round for Nakawa West, and Kawempe North.

On Wednesday, the exercise will focus on general assessments for Kawempe, Nakawa, and Lubaga constituencies.

By Thursday, vetting will shift to Makindye West, Makindye East, and Kampala Central. These three constituencies will also be reviewed again on Friday, closing the week’s program.

All aspirants have been instructed to report to the party offices punctually and be fully prepared for the vetting process.

NUP emphasized that the exercise is part of its commitment to promoting transparency, discipline, and strong grassroots leadership as it prepares for the 2026 polls.

The party has yet to announce when vetting will begin for upcountry constituencies.

The process comes as political activity ramps up across the country, with both opposition and ruling parties moving toward internal primaries and finalizing their electoral slates.
