Police in Namutumba district have arrested Richard Mwanja, the Namutumba NRM registrar, over allegations of altering results for candidates in the NRM parliamentary race.
The arrest follows directives from the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Fred Bangu.
RDC Fred Bangu confirmed the arrest, stating that Mwanje will soon be arraigned in court for prosecution. "We have arrested the NRM registrar, Richard Mwanja, and he will face charges for his actions," Bangu said.
Mwanja is accused of Announcing different candidates for the same position specifically for Busiki County, Busiki North, and the Women Member of Parliament flag bearer, Announcing results without proper tallying in Bukono County.
Mwanja's arrest and impending prosecution aim to address concerns over the integrity of the NRM primary elections in Namutumba district.
