Museveni Calls on CAOs and Town Clerks to Tackle Corruption

President Museveni has urged Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs), Town Clerks, and Under Secretaries to take a bold stand against individuals sabotaging public service delivery, particularly in the education, healthcare, and land sectors.

Speaking during a high-level meeting at State House Entebbe on Sunday, the President emphasized the urgent need to confront corruption, enforce free education in government schools, and curb the theft of medical supplies.

“You must confront and expose the wrong elements who are undermining our efforts in service delivery. Corruption in education, health, and land grabbing must be stopped,” President Museveni charged the senior civil servants.

He stressed that the government’s commitment to free education should not be compromised and called for stricter oversight to ensure that learners access quality education without illegal charges.

“We declared free education in government schools. Why are children still being asked for money? That must stop immediately,” the President said.

On the health sector, Museveni warned against drug theft, which he said was crippling service delivery and eroding public trust in health facilities.

“Theft of drugs in government health units is unacceptable. You must protect the integrity of our health system by identifying and dealing with the culprits,” he said.

President Museveni also linked the improvement of public services to the broader goal of national development.

“If we can promote free education, ensure better health services, and support wealth creation, then we will achieve socio-economic transformation. This is what will restore public confidence and help our country rise,” he said.

The meeting, attended by key government administrators, focused on enhancing accountability and accelerating the implementation of government programs across districts.

The President’s call is expected to reignite efforts to improve transparency, efficiency, and citizen satisfaction in public service delivery.
