Kabaka Ronald Mutebi has urged his subjects to prioritise their health and seek medical care without hesitation, emphasizing that a healthy population is vital to the development of Buganda.
The Kabaka delivered this message through Nalinya Sarah Kagere during the official launch of the Muteesa II Memorial Hospital in Busimbi, Mityana, as part of his 70th birthday celebrations.
“The well-being of our people is a cornerstone of development,” Kabaka Mutebi said in his message.
“We are committed to ensuring that health services in our Kingdom meet the highest standards. Muteesa II Memorial Hospital is a testament to that commitment.”
The newly established facility is expected to ease access to quality healthcare in Ssingo County and neighboring communities by reducing reliance on distant health centers.
The event attracted high-profile leaders including Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, Deputy Katikkiro Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa, Buganda’s minister for health Cotilda Nakate, and Dr. Richard Kabanda, representing the Ministry of Health.
Dr Kabanda used the opportunity to emphasize the importance of childhood immunization.
“We’ve seen preventable diseases resurge due to low uptake of vaccines. Parents must embrace modern medicine to safeguard the next generation,” he said.
Katikkiro Mayiga commended the Kabaka for making healthcare a Kingdom priority.
“This facility represents more than just medical services—it’s a symbol of the Kabaka’s love for his people, a vision of unity and shared responsibility,” he said.
Ms Nakate called on the public to adopt preventive health measures, saying the Kingdom's investment would only succeed if people actively protected their health.
“Good health begins with informed choices,” she added.
Busimbi Sub-county Chief David Ssendikandiwa described the hospital as a “game-changer” for the region, praising the Kabaka’s leadership in linking traditional authority with national development.
The launch of Muteesa II Memorial Hospital stands not only as a birthday gift to the Kabaka's subjects but also as a milestone in Buganda's journey toward accessible, high-quality healthcare for all.
