Acom, a 40-year-old professional accountant from Kateta Sub-County, aims to improve the livelihoods of women and focus on health and unity in the district. She has been working with local communities since 2012 and believes her background will enable her to serve effectively.
Her recent declaration of candidacy at a funeral in Kangodo Cell has energised her supporters.
Helen Adoa Abeku, the current State Minister for Agriculture in charge of Lakes and Fisheries, has been in Parliament for ten years. She previously defeated Alice Alaso in a court battle for the seat in 2016.
While Acom is emerging as a formidable challenger, Adoa is recognised for her effective leadership and contributions to education and community transformation.
With other candidates like Margaret Opol and Florence Iyogil also seeking the NRM flag, the race is expected to be competitive, particularly between Acom and Abeku, given Acom’s growing popularity among the electorate.
