Kampala Capital City Authority in partnership with Unilever Uganda have celebrated women who have enthusiastically worked hard in keeping Kampala clean.

Following the International Women's Day earlier this month, women all over the world have been appreciated and recognised for their essential role in building, nurturing, guiding, and developing society.

Under the theme; "Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress," mainly focusing on monetary empowerment, Unilever has highlighted the invaluable efforts of women who work tirelessly to keep Kampala City clean.

"We are thrilled to shine a spotlight on the remarkable women who play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness of Kampala City," Wangeshi Gitahi, Unilever Uganda's CSP manager said.

She expresses her enthusiasm in appreciating the women whose dedication and hard work cannot go unnoticed.

"At Unilever Uganda, we believe in the power of women and their ability to drive positive change," Gitahi said.

Through this initiative, Unilever and KCCA aim to uplift these women by providing them with the recognition and support they deserve.

Women have been provided with an assortment of goods including Omo-branded merchandise such as gumboots, gloves, reflector jackets, and aprons to assist them in their cleaning duties.

They also received products such as Royco, Pepsodent, Vaseline, and Geisha to support their day-to-day lives.

KCCA Central Division Mayor, Salim Uhuru commended Unilever Uganda for its commitment to empowering women and community development.

"We are grateful for Unilever Uganda's partnership and support in recognising the hard work of these women," Uhuru said. "Their dedication to keeping Kampala city clean is truly commendable and we are proud to collaborate with them."

Nyendwoha Kabasambo, a cleaning supervisor says that this initiative not only celebrates their hard work but also empowers them to continue making a positive impact in the community.

"As a woman working to keep Kampala city clean, I'm honored to be recognised for my contributions," Kabasambo says. "I'm grateful to Unilever Uganda and KCCA for their support and recognition."

As a responsible corporate citizen, Unilever Uganda is dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the communities where it operates and its partnership with KCCA shows a commitment to supporting women and advocating for gender equality.

This dedication cultivates a world filled with limitless opportunities and empowerment for all.
