New Entebbe Airport terminal building opens up for public ahead of NAM, G77 summits

The opening was officiated by the Minister of Transport and works ,Gen Katumba Wamala , the Security Minister , Jim Muhwezi and the Chairperson of National Organizing Committee for Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), Lucy Nakyobe together with UCCA officials.

According to Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) spokesperson Vianny Lugya ,the structure is connected to the current terminal building at the airport that has enhanced the passengers space experience during the departure and arrivals.

“Our passengers who are using this new modified terminal can now be driven and dropped off by the terminal building. They leave the building as they enter their cars” Vianny added.

While touring the refurbished facilities, the project coordinator for the airport construction works , Col Godfrey Tukamwakira said the work that started in May, 2023 by Uganda Peoples Defence Forces engineering brigade is now ready to facilitate both the public and delegates expected in the country by next week.

“The passenger terminals have unique features including canopy, air conditioning system, fire fighting system , elevators among others to much the international standards” Col Tukamwakira added.

The NAM-G77+ conferences will be held at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Uganda from January 15th-20th this year.
