It is alleged that Apiny convinced the victim to meet her in an incomplete building in the neighbourhood where the alleged crime was committed.

The North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson said preliminary findings indicate the suspect asked the victim to sit on her lap before she started playing with the victim's sexual organ.

"According to information we have obtained, the victim went and found Apiny seated on a plastic chair where she welcomed him. Apiny later told him to have sex with her before removing her knickers, and pushed the victim's penis into her vagina and performed a sexual act," Okema said on Wednesday.

The alleged crime was committed on October 29th, 2023. The suspect, Apiny, later threatened to harm the victim if he were to tell anybody about the incident.

However, Okema said the victim informed his father, Isaac Omech, who reported the case to police.

"Our detectives visited the scene and documented. Statements were also recorded from the reporter and witnesses, and the suspect is currently in police custody," says the North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson.

A charge of aggravated defilement has been prepared and sanctioned against the suspect, who is set to appear before court.

This is not the first time the town has registered a similar case. In 2018, a high court sitting in Lira convicted to five-year imprisonment, Harriet Atapar, a resident of Market Square Village in Lira District.

The then Lira High Court Judge, Justice Alex Mackay Ajiji convicted Atapar of aggravated defilement after she was found guilty of using sachet waragi and luring a teenager to her house before having unlawful sexual intercourse with him.
