IGANGA | The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has cautioned young people against diving straight into marriage with partners they have solely connected with through social media platforms.

He emphasised the importance of conducting thorough background checks before making such life-altering decisions.

These remarks were made during the joyous wedding ceremony of Halima Babirye, daughter of Sheikh Umar Juma Waiswa, a UMSC general Assembly member representing Iganga Muslim District.

The wedding took place at their residence in Nabidonga Village in Iganga Municipality, where Babirye exchanged vows with Muhammad Gasemba.

Addressing the guests, which included UMSC officials and many others, Mubaje further advised that marrying into families of integrity, religiosity, and understanding is crucial for nurturing a future generation of upright citizens.

He also cautioned parents against imposing excessive materialistic conditions during marriage negotiations, urging them instead to be reasonable and ensure that their children find suitable life partners.

Mubaje prayed for Almighty God's blessings upon the young couple, wishing them a harmonious and prosperous life together as husband and wife.

Earlier in the ceremony, UMSC officials shared words of wisdom with the newly married couple, highlighting the significance of love, care, respect, and discipline in building a successful marriage.
