Accounting officers handling public funds have been cautioned by the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets appeals tribunal to ensure transparency during procurement
During a sensitization meeting with the CAO’s, RDCs, and private sector practitioners in Gulu, the chairperson of tribunal Olive Zaale Otete said if accounting officers mess up with procurement they will be reported to the public service commission and given severe punishment.
The Gulu RDC Major Santo Okot Lapolo called upon the tribunal to be open and publicly reveal culprits because corruption impacts negatively on service delivery.
The tribunal charges complainants 300,000/= per case and according Otete they have handled and settled 100 cases since 2004.
She urged bidders and members of the public to come out and lodge their grievances within 10 days of the award of a contract.
