Local leaders from Acholi and Lango sub regions have tasked UNRA management to explain and give clarification on the state of roads and shoddy work done in the ongoing project.

The local leaders also want UNRA to explain the delay in roads construction where compensation has been done.

Speaking during a stake holder’s meeting organized by UNRA in Gulu, UNRA's regional manager Rubahamya Marcelliano said they can’t do works without adequate funding but promised to investigate the shoddy work done.

Local leaders questioned whether supervision is done on this roads during construction and want UNRA leadership to explain why compensation in others places has delayed with some people compensated yet with no work commencing.

They accused UNRA of making promises which are never fulfilled such as upgrading road network in the region.

Rubahamya said the current challenge faced by UNRA is under - funding which he admitted has affecting their work.

He also promised to deal with contractors doing shoddy work in the region

Juliet Oyella Okwi – UNRA land evaluation Manager said reason why some people have not been compensated is because of land disputes and absentee land lords but money is available.

UNRA is currently constructing over 10 roads in both Lango and Acholi sub –region including Acholibur – Kitgum road, Olwiyo – Gulu road, Kiryandongo – Karuma road , Maracha koboko road among others.
