Kyabazinga applauds the government's focus on science education

Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, has expressed his appreciation to the central government for prioritizing science education, recognizing its potential to pave the way for a future university in the region.

His remarks were made during the graduation ceremony of 530 students at the Lubega Institute of Nursing and Health Professionals in Busei village, Nakalama sub-county, Iganga district.

The graduates were awarded certificates in Nursing, Midwifery, Laboratory Techniques, and Pharmacy, while others obtained diplomas in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Medicine and Community Health, Pharmacy, Nursing Extension, and Midwifery Extension.

Presiding over the ceremony, Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV, who also serves as the Chancellor of the institute, was welcomed by Busoga Kingdom's Katukiro, Dr. Joseph Muvawala. He was accompanied by the first deputy Katukiro, Prof. Dr. Muhamadi Lubega, the Executive Director and proprietor of the Institute, and the second deputy Katukiro, Owek. Al-Haji Osman Ahmed Noor.

During the event, the Kyabazinga inaugurated the multi-billion Gabula Block, also known as Gabula Pentagon, and a new Scania school bus before proceeding to the graduation arena.

A procession led by the institute's management and a marching band moved from the administration block to the venue, with the Kyabazinga greeting students, parents, and guests.

In his speech, the Kyabazinga commended Prof. Dr. Lubega for his significant contributions to education in Busoga and Uganda, as well as his partnership with the Kingdom of Busoga (OBB), which has provided bursaries for children in the region.

Dr. Joseph Muvawala, the Prime Minister of Busoga Kingdom, urged the graduates to demonstrate kindness to patients in their future healthcare roles.

He also acknowledged Prof. Lubega's annual bursaries to the Busoga Kingdom and his commitment to producing a skilled and disciplined health workforce.

Prof. Lubega took the opportunity to request the Kyabazinga to remind President Yoweri Museveni of his pledge to support the institute with Shs1.8 billion for the construction of the Gabula Block.
