If you wait until 23, you can have sex a long time - Museveni

President Museveni has encouraged young people to wait until they are 22 or 23 years before engaging in sexual activity.

He made the remarks during the Inter-Religious Family Festival held at Kololo Independence Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.

"I encourage young people to get married at 22, 23 there. Then you can get a family and plan. Then you can have sex a long time," Museveni said.

In his speech, the President advised that the optimal age for starting a family should be between 22 and 23 years, noting that waiting until this age to engage in sexual activity could lead to a more satisfying and healthy sex life that extends to the age of 90.

"Now imagine being patient and persevere and start at 23, by the time you're 90 years, how much you would have," the President said.

But for you to start having sex when you're 14 and then you get HIV AIDs and you get sick or getting problems, you will be miserable all your life."

The President, who was flanked by First Lady Janet Museveni, thanked the Global Peace Foundation of Dr Moon for bringing this occasion to Uganda.

Museveni, also highlighted the essence of wealth creation for family prosperity, saying: "A family without wealth is like a ship without a compass,"

He encouraged Ugandans to embrace the values of a traditional African family, which include fearing God, caring for the family members, creating wealth, producing and caring for children, respecting and obeying parents, and education while incorporating valuable aspects of modern religions to enrich societal fabric.

The festival was organised by the Global Peace Foundation of Dr. Moon, under the theme “Celebrating Family, Faith, and Freedom: One Family under God for Africa Renaissance."

The event was attended by several religious leaders and dignitaries from different religions of the country.
