Kigezi Youth Urged to Shine Brightly as Leaders
Rt. Rev. Gaddie Akanjuna

The Diocese of Kigezi in Uganda recently concluded a four-day Youth and Students Convention, with a powerful message ringing out to its over 4,000 young attendees. Bishop Gaddie Akanjuna, leader of the Diocese, challenged the youth to embody the biblical concept of being "salt and light" for their communities.

A Call to Action and Transformation:

Bishop Akanjuna emphasized the importance of continuous growth and transformation through faith in Christ. He urged the young people to be bold in their faith and let their light shine, illuminating the way for others. He encouraged them to leverage their youthful energy and talents to create positive change in their surroundings.

Promoting Gender Equality:

Rev. Robertson Agaba Peter, a prominent youth worker within the Diocese, highlighted a crucial aspect – the need for greater involvement from young men. While acknowledging the high female participation at the convention, he stressed the importance of ensuring equal rights and opportunities for both genders within the church. He advocated for a holistic approach that fosters the development and empowerment of all young people, regardless of their sex.

Putting Lessons into Action:

Building on these messages, Simon Turyakira, Chairperson of the Diocese's Youth Ministry, urged his fellow participants to take action. He emphasized the importance of integrating the valuable lessons learned at the convention into their daily lives. By doing so, they can contribute to a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

This convention served as a powerful platform for Kigezi's young generation. They were challenged to embrace their leadership potential, stand firm in their faith, and work towards a more positive future for themselves and their communities.
