Logistics officers in  the UPDF have been sternly cautioned against engaging in corruption and mismanagement of logistics.

This warning was issued at the conclusion of a three-day retreat for logisticians held at the College of Logistics and Engineering in Magamaga, which ended yesterday.

Lt Gen Charles Otema Awany, the General Officer Commanding Reserve Force, represented the Chief of Defence Forces at the event.

He emphasized the importance of integrity and proper management of resources, urging officers to view UPDF assets not as opportunities for personal gain but as essential to maintaining national peace.

"The Commander-in-Chief has always warned us against mismanagement of logistics and fuel. As logisticians, we must address his concerns by managing logistics properly and stop the wrong mindset of getting rich quickly by desisting from all corrupt tendencies," Lt Gen Otema stated.

He highlighted that effective planning and management of logistics are crucial for the smooth operation of all UPDF activities.

Brig Gen Godwin Karugaba, the Joint Staff - Logistics, noted that the retreat, themed “Achieving self-sustainment through logistics and engineering strategic planning,” aimed to critique, review, and develop tactical logistics and fuel management strategies with appropriate control measures for the UPDF.

The retreat brought together Principal Staff Officers - logistics from various divisions and logistics officers from formations equivalent to the division level, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance logistics operations within the force.
